Global Education Specialists at WISE Paris

Updated: Mar 13, 2019

The World Innovation Summit for Education (WISE) was established in 2009 and is an international, multi-sectoral platform for creative thinking, debate and purposeful action. I was delighted to be invited to participate at WISE Paris where a diverse group of thought leaders, practitioners and innovators joined to discuss and collaborate on actionable and innovative solutions in education. We were also blessed with some of the most amazing February weather you could imagine!

The focus of the two days was on what it means to create learning societies. Held at the impressive Palais de Tokyo, delegates were able to choose from an array of experiences and personalised learning journeys to imagine what will be the future of education. Sessions were organised around four topics: rethinking K-12 education; empowering teachers and education leaders; decrypting the future of work and cultivating global citizenship.

The current advancements in technology are creating exciting opportunities and posing new challenges for how we develop the existing and future workforce. There is an urgent need to re-think how we learn, work and create the systems that will equip populations with the mindsets, skill sets, and knowledge needed to thrive. Technology should be seen as an enabler that will create opportunities for global citizens the world over to access education and training opportunities that previously would have been out of reach.

These two days challenged me to think about what this means for Global Education Specialists and our role in facilitating this change. I was fortunate enough to meet some amazing people and organisations and will keep you posted on developments.
